The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2019

The Children and Social Work Act 2017 (Consequential Amendments) (Social Workers) Regulations 2019

Part 2 of the Children and Social Work Act 2017 (“the Act”) made changes to the way in which social workers in England are regulated. In particular, the Act established a body corporate, Social Work England, as the regulator of social workers in England in place of the Health and Care Professions Council. The Act made amendments to primary legislation consequent on the change of regulator, and to the Health Professions Order 2001 (S.I. 2002/254) (“the 2001 Order”) which regulates the Health and Care Professions Council, including to amend the title of the 2001 Order (which was previously the Health and Social Work Professions Order 2001).

The Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Act 2014 (Consequential Modification) Order 2019

This Order makes provision consequential on section 26 of the Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Act 2014 (“the 2014 Act”). Section 26 of the 2014 Act adds sections 253F to 253J to the Criminal Procedure (Scotland) Act 1995 (“the 1995 Act”) which provide for the introduction of a victim surcharge. The victim surcharge is to be imposed by the court on a person convicted of an offence (other than an offence that is exempted, or in circumstances which are exempted, under regulations made by the Scottish Ministers) whenever the court imposes a sentence or class of sentence that is prescribed by the Scottish Ministers in regulations. However, the victim surcharge provisions do not apply where the court makes a restitution order instead.
