These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers in section 8 of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (c. 16) in order to address failures of retained EU law to operate effectively and other deficiencies arising from the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union (and in particular, the deficiencies under paragraphs (d) and (g) of section 8(2)), as well as the powers in paragraph 1 of Schedule 4 to that Act and in paragraph 21(b).

These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 8(1), 23(1) and (6) and 24(3) of, and paragraph 21(b) of Schedule 7 to, the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (c. 16) in order to ensure that legislation concerning the European Parliamentary elections will remain in force long enough for the post-election processes attendant on the holding of the poll on 23 May 2019 to be completed.

These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 8(1) of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 (c. 16) (“the 2018 Act”), in order to address deficiencies in retained EU law arising from withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the EU (in particular section 8(2)(c) and (d)).
