The Occupational Pensions (Revaluation) Order 2018

Section 84 of the Pension Schemes Act 1993 (c. 48) (“the 1993 Act”) requires pensions and other benefits under occupational pension schemes to be revalued by the final salary method (which is dealt with in Schedule 3 to the 1993 Act). For the purposes of that revaluation, and as required by paragraph 2 of Schedule 3 to the 1993 Act, this Order specifies the necessary revaluation percentages for the purpose of the revaluation on, or after, 1st January 2019 of benefits under occupational pension schemes. It is not necessary to specify a lower revaluation percentage for revaluation periods which start before 1st January 2009.

The Landfill Disposals Tax (Tax Rates) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 / Rheoliadau Treth Gwarediadau Tirlenwi (Cyfraddau Treth) (Cymru) (Diwygio) 2018

These Regulations prescribe the standard rate, lower rate and unauthorised disposals rate for landfill disposals tax chargeable on taxable disposals made on or after 1 April 2019.

The Environmental Noise (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2018 / Rheoliadau Sŵn Amgylcheddol (Cymru) (Diwygio) 2018

These Regulations amend the Environmental Noise (Wales) Regulations 2006 (S.I. 2006/2629 (W. 225)) (“the 2006 Regulations”) in order to implement Commission Directive (EU) 2015/996 of 19 May 2015 establishing common noise assessment methods according to Directive 2002/49/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council (OJ No L 168, 1.7.2015, p. 1).

The Armed Forces (Aliens) (Amendment) Regulations 2018

Section 340 of the Armed Forces Act 2006 (c.52) prohibits aliens from serving in the regular forces or Her Majesty’s forces raised under the law of a British overseas territory other than Gibraltar. However, the Defence Council may make regulations which exempt aliens who satisfy prescribed conditions from the prohibition.

The International Road Transport Permits (EU Exit) Regulations 2018

These Regulations prohibit an operator from using a goods vehicle registered in the UK for transporting goods on an international journey to, in or through a relevant country or relevant member State without an international road transport permit (“permit”) and require that permit to be carried on the vehicle. The Regulations set out the administrative provisions for applying for and granting a permit; how such applications will be determined; and the information that must be included in a permit. They also set out the circumstances in which a permit may be cancelled, provide for appeals and enable fees to be charged.
