The Criminal Legal Aid (General) (Amendment) Regulations 2020

Regulation 9 of the Criminal Legal Aid (General) Regulations 2013 (S.I. 2013/9) (“the General Regulations”) makes provision about criminal proceedings for the purposes of section 14(h) of the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 (c. 10) (“the 2012 Act”). These Regulations amend regulation 9 of the General Regulations to prescribe as criminal proceedings for the purposes of the 2012 Act, proceedings under sections 1, 4, 5 and 7 of the Stalking Protection Act 2019 (c. 9) (“the 2019 Act”) in relation to stalking protection orders and interim stalking protection orders.

The Landfill Disposals Tax (Tax Rates) (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 / Rheoliadau Treth Gwarediadau Tirlenwi (Cyfraddau Treth) (Cymru) (Diwygio) 2020

These Regulations prescribe the standard rate, lower rate and unauthorised disposals rate for landfill disposals tax chargeable on taxable disposals (within the meaning of Part 2 of the Landfill Disposals Tax (Wales) Act 2017) made on or after 1 April 2020.

The Value Added Tax (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2019

These Regulations amend Part 16 (importations, exportations and removals) of the Value Added Tax Regulations 1995 (S.I 1995/2518: “the Principal Regulations”) to make changes required by Council Directive (EU) 2018/1910 of 4 December 2018 (OJ No 311, 07.12.2018, p. 3-7) (“Directive 2018/1910”) which, amongst other things, amends article 138 of Council Directive 2006/112/EC (OJ No 347, 11.12.06, p. 1) (“the Principal VAT Directive”).

The Excise Goods (Holding, Movement and Duty Point) (Amendment) Regulations 2019

These Regulations amend the Excise Goods (Holding, Movement and Duty Point) Regulations 2010 (S.I. 2010/593). Regulation 2 amends the definition of “Member State” and “territory of a Member State” removing the territories of Campione d’Italia and the waters of Lake Lugano in the Italian Republic from those territories treated as excluded from the territory of the relevant Member State. This reflects amendments made to Article 5 of Council Directive 2008/118/EC (OJ L009, 14.1.2009, p. 12-30) by Article 2 of Council Directive 2019/475/EU (OJ L83, 25.3.2019, p. 42-43).

The Public Interest Merger Reference (Mettis Aerospace Ltd.) (Pre-emptive Action) Order 2019

The Secretary of State has given the Competition and Markets Authority an intervention notice on public interest grounds in respect of the anticipated acquisition of Mettis Aerospace Limited by the company known as Aerostar and registered in the People’s Republic of China, either directly or through Ligeance Aerospace Technology Co. Ltd, a company registered in the People’s Republic of China and owned or controlled by Aerostar, or any other body corporate interconnected with Aerostar. This Order is made for the purpose of preventing action which might prejudice a reference of the matter to the Competition and Markets Authority under section 45 of the Enterprise Act 2002 (c. 41) or impede the taking of any action under Part 3 of that Act which may be justified by the Secretary of State’s decisions on the reference.
