Brexit Bill: Lords to investigate how statutory instruments should be scrutinised

The House of Lords Secondary Legislation Scrutiny Committee (SLSC) has asked for evidence for its new inquiry which will investigate the criteria which should be applied in deciding whether a statutory instrument (SI) laid under clauses 7 to 9 of the European Union (Withdrawal) Bill should be upgraded from a negative to an affirmative procedure instrument.
Affirmative SIs are debated in the House while negative instruments are automatically passed unless a Member tables an objection.

Ploughshare’s move to the Porton Science Park will benefit the site, the region and the wider UK economy. Ploughshare has worked for many years with Dstl and understands the organisation, has excellent relationships with senior staff, and strong links with their world-class scientists and experts.

The Tribunal Procedure (Amendment) Rules 2018

Rules 2 and 3 amend the rules of procedure which apply in certain chambers of the Upper Tribunal. These changes are consequential on changes made by the First-tier Tribunal and Upper Tribunal (Chambers) (Amendment) Order 2018 (S.I. 2018/509) in respect of allocation of proceedings between chambers of the Upper Tribunal. That Order provides that appeals from decisions of the Property Chamber of the First-tier Tribunal relating to a reference by the Chief Land Registrar or any other application, matter or appeal under the Land Registration Act 2002 (c. 9) shall be determined by the Lands Chamber of the Upper Tribunal rather than by the Tax and Chancery Chamber of the Upper Tribunal.
